Why Braces?

Braces are a proven solution for straightening teeth, correcting bite alignment, and greatly improving your long-term oral health. This form of treatment is particularly effective in correcting common orthodontic issues such as malocclusions (jaw misalignment), overcrowding, and gaps between teeth, leading to a healthier, more confident smile.

Before treatment, many of our patients experience issues with self-esteem, stemming from issues affecting their teeth and bite which affects their willingness to smile in photographs and causing anxiety in social situations. However, under the expert care of Dr Orolloga, braces offer an effective resolution and incredible results.

Types of Braces We Offer

Through our Oxford-based orthodontic clinic, we offer several types of braces. They’re all highly effective but offer different benefits - here’s what is involved for each:
The “classic” style that is widely recognised, our metallic braces use metal brackets and wires that fit on the front (visible side) of your teeth. They are the most affordable choice and typically take 18 to 24 months to straighten your teeth, although this can vary.
Our specialist ceramic braces use tooth-coloured, translucent brackets to offer a more discrete alternative to traditional metallic braces, although they work in exactly the same way. The length of treatment is also similar to metallic braces, again dependent on how severe the orthodontic issues are.
Our lingual braces offer the most discrete treatment option of all our braces - concealed behind the teeth. These devices are precision-crafted to fit your teeth and arch shape perfectly, resulting in fewer practice visits. Our specialist Orthodontist, Dr Orolloga is a certified “Elite” provider of these braces and holds a Masters in Incognito Lingual Orthodontics - so you’re in the best possible hands.

Our Braces Treatment Process

Getting started couldn’t be easier - here’s what to expect:
 Consultation icon
Your journey to a straighter smile starts with a free initial consultation with one of our treatment coordinators. If you’d then like to proceed, our orthodontic assessment costs £125 for adults and is free for under 18s. During this assessment, digital scans and photographs will be taken to determine the extent of the orthodontic work required and the best type of treatment.
Teeth Planning icon
Once we’ve assessed your teeth, we will create a personalised treatment plan outlining your expected treatment duration and any necessary preparatory steps. Advanced imaging and digital models will help map out tooth movement, ensuring precise and effective results.
Fitting the Devise
When your braces are ready, we’ll begin the fitting process. The brackets will be carefully attached to your teeth, and connected with an archwire. Some initial discomfort is normal as your mouth adjusts, but this typically subsides within a few days to a week.
Dentist Checkup
During your treatment, you’ll need regular check-ups to monitor your progress and make necessary adjustments; for example, your archwire may need to be tightened. You should expect appointments roughly every 8 to 10 weeks for braces.
Metallic Fixed Braces

Once your braces are removed, you will be provided with a retainer to maintain your new straight teeth. Wearing a retainer as instructed is crucial to prevent teeth from shifting back, which is known as “orthodontic relapse”.

"Accessible orthodontics were incredibly helpful as I decided on my Invisalign treatment. Nestor was very patient and understanding as I asked for certain things to be adjusted, as I carried on through my treatment. Everything is very specified to how you’d like your ending result to look like and is a really healing experience after disappointing results from previous treatment elsewhere. I can’t thank Nestor and his team more for everything they’ve done as I’ve completed my Invisalign treatment, the results are more than I could have hoped for, I really recommend it."

"I was fitted in quickly and very happy with the product I received, but a special mention to the members of staff who were all lovely and made me feel at ease as someone who doesn't have the best history with dental settings. Can't recommend highly enough!"

    FAQs

How do I know if I need braces?

If you have crooked, crowded, or misaligned teeth, or issues with your bite (such as overbite or underbite), you may benefit from braces. Even if it’s just something you don’t like about your teeth (perhaps small gaps between the teeth), we will be able to get them just how you want them! A consultation with our orthodontist will determine the best treatment for your needs. In many cases, your dentist may also refer you to us.

    Is getting braces painful?

Don’t worry, fitting braces is not painful, though you may experience mild discomfort for a few days after they have been fitted as your teeth adjust. Regular adjustments may cause temporary pressure, which subsides quickly.
